SCIENTIFIC COFFEE

FROM DNA TO A BETTER HEALTHCARE: PROMISES OR FALLACIES?

What is personalized medicine? Are we ready for this new medicine? How much do we want to know about ourselves? Will personalized medicine turn us into patients?

We want to discuss about how doctors can use our genome sequencing to improve both prevention and disease. In other words, how can genome variations be traced to diseases risk and how can variations influence the treatment you will receive. Especially, also in the light of the current appearance of commercially offered testing for genetic variants, we would like to show what has been demonstrated to be possible, and what not yet.

Invited speakers:

  • Xavier Estivill, Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG)
  • Eduard Serra, Institute for Personalized and Predictive Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC)

Date and time: Tuesday, 29th June, 7 pm.

Place: Centre Sant Pere Apòstol. C/ Sant Pere més Alt, 25, Barcelona.
