The CRG /UPF Proteomics Unit, only Spanish Proteomics unit in MERIL project

The MERIL (Mapping the European Research Infrastructure Landscape) project aims to develop a comprehensive inventory of all outstanding research facilities present in Europe. The idea is to provide the scientific community with resources and services to conduct top-level research in any research field. The facilities should:

  • Offer top quality scientific and technological performance, that should be recognised as being of European relevance
  • Offer access to scientific users from Europe and beyond through a transparent selection process on the basis of excellence
  • Have stable and effective management

Two facilities from the CRG have becom members of this international network of collaboration. The Genomics Unit, which offers services in the fields of microarray technology and next-generation sequencing. The unit prepares the Illumina libraries for genomic sequencing, ChIP-Seq, mate-pair sequencing, cDNA sequencing, exome selection and the preparation of 454 sequencing libraries.
In the biological sciences arena, the CRG/UPF Proteomics unit is the only Spanish facility focused in proteomics. The unit is equipped with three state-of-the-art mass spectrometers and their corresponding HPLC systems, which enables the performance of many different types of proteomics analyses.
The MERIL project is funded and coordinated by several institutons like the European Science Foundation (ESF) and the FP7 program of the EU.
